Both Complexity and Liquid faltered in their matches against Brazilian teams. In the final two quarter-finals of BLAST Spring Showdown North America, MIBR took down Complexity 2-0, while paiN upset Liquid in a close three map series. As a result, all four teams featuring North American players have been eliminated from the BLAST Showdown, all losing matches to the Brazilian participants. This puts MIBR and paiN into the semi-finals, where they are set to face each other on Saturday for a spot in the North America Showdown final and a chance to qualify for the BLAST Spring Finals taking placing in June. ![]() The first series between MIBR and Complexity kicked off on Dust2, where Adriano "WOOD7" Cerato's men got off to a strong start. Despite the dangers of an 11-4 lead, MIBR were able to close out map one without too much trouble, with Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian posting an impressive 1.61 rating on the map. The second map was a bit more competitive during the first half, but ultimately the Brazilian side won out, taking Inferno 16-10. Notably, Justin "FaNg" Coakley performed very poor during the series, something quite uncharacteristic for the Canadian rifler, with the team encountering multiple technical issues during the match. Much like Complexity, Liquid got off to a quite slow start in their first map against paiN. Despite a heroic performance from Keith "NAF" Markovic, the North American squad was unable to get a strong T side started, and ultimately dropped Vertigo to paiN. Liquid answered back on Ancient, taking an early 9-4 lead from the Terrorist side thanks to a huge performance from Josh "oSee" Ohm. Vinicios "PKL" Coelho and company made a comeback attempt in the second half and even took a 12-10 lead, but ended up falling on map two 13-16. The deciding map Overpass ended up much more even, with Liquid taking a narrow 9-6 lead with four of their round wins coming from defuses. Despite not having a particularly successful offense in the second half, in part thanks to a massive performance from Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt, Liquid was still able to grind out enough rounds to force overtime. The North American side was unable to change their fate however, and dropped the map 17-19, losing the series 1-2. BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2022 North AmericaBest of 3![]() ![]() ![]()
